We all know that the art market is the least regulated commercial market out there. There are many corporate executives doing time for stuff (insider trading) that happens everyday in the art world. But it seems there are some voices out there lately that are starting to pull some covers and it's nice to see. This morning Tyler Green over at MAN calls into question local critic Edward Goldman's motives and recently Jen Graves in Seattle Called out a local critic for trading art for reviews. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
DISCLAIMER: I'm a total shill. Everything about this blog is a way to promote The Office and the art scene in OC. If the art scene in OC is healthy then The Office and my artist friends might be healthy. Just so you know...
First off I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of friend and curator Jacqueline Bunge this weekend. It was a beautiful event and she was a beautiful bride. Congrats Jackie & Nathan!
OC Art Blog TV: As you can see by the video below there's going to be some exciting changes here at the OC Art Blog. We are going to be moving from all blog to part Vlog. That's right, we're going video. Very exciting to try something new and hopefully provide you with some great content here on the site. I hoped to have our first episode for you this week but because I have no clue what I'm doing it's been delayed. Expect to see our debut next week. I already have some great stuff lined up so hopefully it will just get better and better. If you have any show ideas you would like to see please just drop me an email and please let us know what you think once we get rolling. Cheers!
Here's some OC art history for you. This is video of Chris Burden's shoot piece. The year was 1971 and the location was F Space in Santa Ana. Narration is by Burden. Looks like it hurts...
For all the SRL fans out there. Here's a great piece of web priestess and 11 year SRL member Violet Blue giving a tour of where it all gets done.
For all you artists out there having trouble getting started on that next idea. Here's a little motivation. Courtesy zefrank.
